A Complete Bathroom

We started redoing our bathroom last July.  We just wanted to do a simple upgrade until we can save up enough money to completely redo it the way we want to.  We just painted the paneling and vanity and put up some new wallpaper.  It was all coming together pretty well.  I was just stuck on how to frame out the mirror.  I tossed around several ideas but just couldn't decide on anything.  It doesn't help that we have an outlet toward the outer edge of the mirror.  Finally, last week while I was at Lowes, I came across something I thought would work great.  This is what I found...

These are vinyl siding samples.  The great thing was that they had a variety of colors that matched the wallpaper that we had up.  I thought they would look good around the mirror, almost like tile, and would be easy to put up with a little bit of liquid nails.  It only took me about two hours to complete and it turned out really good.  The price is the best part about it...FREE!!

Here are all the other finishing touches we added to complete the bathroom...

I'm glad to have the bathroom complete (except for repainting the ceiling).  Our next project will be carpeting the bedrooms upstairs and hopefully the family room.  I hope to get that complete this summer!

My Latest Project

So I've been wanting to do something different with the shelves in our family room.  They are all black and a lot of stuff we have on the shelves are darker in color so they just blended right in with the back.  It took me awhile to decide if I wanted to paint them, put up wallpaper, or maybe cover the back with fabric.  I finally decided to wallpaper it.  The shelves look so much better and all our stuff just pops out now.  So what do you think??

Bella's Antics

There is never a dull moment when you have a 3 year old.  Bella is definately a fearless child at times.  Lately, she has loved jumping on the furniture, mommy doesn't love it so much.  I can just see her breaking an arm or a leg.  But that's not the best of it!!  She has loved finding mischief.

Last week, she was playing in her bedroom.  Generally she plays with her Littlest Pet Shops, Barbies, or Zoobles so I don't have to worry about her too much.  Well she had another idea of fun that night.  In her room, she has a shelf unit that is 5 shelves tall.  On the top shelf, I keep all our good children's books that I don't want her to "play" with.  Well after playing for awhile, she walked into my room with an armful of these books and asks me to read to her.  I just looked at her and said, "How the heck did you get those books down?"  Her response, "I used my clothes thingy."  She had emptied out her hamper, turned it upside down, and climbed on top of it to reach the books.

Then the following night, I was talking to my sister on the phone and Bella got quiet.  I went to check on her to find her in the bathroom downstairs (where we keep the cat food, liter box, etc.)  She had gotten into the cat food and dumped in down the sink, which doesn't have the drain cover on it.  Thankfully, Jason was able to get it cleaned out with no problems.  Guess that's what I get for letting her help me feed the cats!?!

Then a few nights later, I found her playing in the crawl space.  For those who don't know, we live in a tri-level house so the door for our crawl space is in the bathroom downstairs.  When I walked in there, I found cat food in the liter box, the cat dishes in the middle of the crawl space (there was both cat food and water in one dish), and a bucket of water dumped everywhere (we have a pipe that leaks a little so we keep a bucket under it until we can get it fixed this spring).  So needless to say, after that night I went to Lowes and bought a key lock for the crawl space door.  At least I know she can't pick the lock!!

Those have been the most "exciting" things I have dealt with in the last couple weeks.  I'm sure there are many more antics to come.  Good things she's cute!!

She's Been Found!!

For Bella's first birthday she received a "Little Mommy" baby doll.  She grew to love it and eventually started to call it "Baby Sister."  Back in November, Jenn, Bella, "Baby Sister" and I went to the Lighthouse Mall in Michigan City.  We did our shopping and went out for lunch.  That was the last day I remember seeing Bella's doll.  A few days later, she was asking for her.  I searched the house from top to bottom, my vehicle and even the garage and could not find "Baby Sister" anywhere.  I had to break the news to Bella that "Baby Sister" was lost and I was afraid we had left her at the mall.  She was upset, so I promised if I ever found a doll at the store that looked just like it I would get it for her.  She eventually got over the lose and started to play with her other babies, every now and then still asking about "Baby Sister" and if she was still at the mall.  Well fast forward to three days ago.  Jason decided to clean out his car.  It was so packed full of junk for work that Bella could hardly ride in it with him.  Well as he was cleaning, guess who he came across...BABY SISTER!!  Bella was so excited that she was home!!  She was concerned that the baby was cold and really hungry so she had to "feed" her and get her warmed up.

We had a very happy reunion and I'm sure we will take extra precaution next time "Baby Sister" goes with us anywhere.  Don't want to loose her again!

A Tale as Old as Time...

I got a free movie ticket from my Disney Rewards to go see Beauty and the Beast 3D, so I decided to take Bella today.  Nanny came along for the excitement.  This is only the second time Bella has gone to an actual movie theater to see a show (the first time was to see Tangled with cousins, Ann and Nellie).  This was also the first time all 3 of us had ever watched a movie in 3D so we were pretty excited.  I wasn't sure how Bella would do with the glasses.  She surprised me and left them on the whole time, well after I realized that I was wearing hers and she had mine.  The guy didn't tell me he was giving me 2 different sizes...LOL.  Here we are looking stylish!

Beauty and the Beast is one of my favorite Disney movies so of course, I loved it!!  Bella did too.  We had to take a potty break during the movie and she tells me, "Mommy, I like this movie.  I even like the scarey guy (the beast)."  She's so funny!!  We had such a great day.  I think our next adventure is going to be bowling!!

I Got my Husband Back!!

Jason took No-Shave November to the extreme again this year (except I think this time it was longer) and didn't shave for at least 3 months.  At first, I liked it.  About a month ago, I started to despise it.  It was unsightly to say the least.  So this is what he looked like a few days ago...

I told you it looked terrible.  I got out the clippers and started to work some magic.  This is what it looked like half way through...

Doesn't he look like Zach Galifianakis from The Hangover??  Next it was time for the beard to go...

Ladies and gentlemen....I have my husband back!!  It's so nice to see his handsome face again.  Maybe next year he won't go to this extreme again, but I won't hold my breath!

Bieber Fever

My 3 year old loves Justin Bieber!!  Awhile back Jenn and I rented the Never Say Never movie and Bella watched it with us.  That's when it all started.  After that, she would point out posters and dolls at the store. Then she started asking to watch him on the computer.  Now, she would sit and watch videos of him all day long if I would let her.  She's caught the fever...LOL  So the other day as she was watching a video on youtube and singing along with it, I hid the camera so I could record her (if she sees me with it in my hands she stops doing anything).  I was able to catch her and if you listen closely you can hear her.  I don't know what I'm gonna do with this girl!

Then, a couple weeks ago, they added the Never Say Never movie to Netflix and Bella wanted to watch it tonight.  She started dancing and singing, plus she took the guitar for the Wii and started "playing" it along to the music.  Luckily I had the camera nearby to catch her in the act.

Can you tell there is never a dull moment in this Standeford house :)
